Hard-shell Clams (Mercenaria mercenaria) are bivalve mollusks, like Oysters and Mussels. Hard-shell Clams are also known as Quahogs. However, they are generally known by names based on their size: Littlenecks, Cherrystones, Topnecks and Chowders. Littlenecks are the smallest followed by Cherrystones.
