Eva's Food World: Indian Pudding by Bar Harbor

When I head south from Ottawa, ON to Watertown, NY for some shopping, I make a point of checking out Hannaford. This supermarket has loads of different products and especially a lot of local stuff. I always pick up one or two items to try.

Hannaford carries Bar Harbor products which are produced in Maine. The product line includes canned seafood and fish, products made from both, sauces and beans. I’ve tried the Lobster Bisque and Clam Chowder and I liked both very much.

Another reason I like this line of products is the labelling. Simple and clear. They almost have a homemade look to them which makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

On this last visit, I picked up a can of Bar Harbor Indian pudding. The can stated that is was a true Yankee dessert that was made in small batches like the way it was made by the first Maine settlers. The ingredient list was short: water, molasses, corn meal, milk, butter, evaporated cane juice, salt and proprietary spices. I was happy to read no artificial preservatives, no MSG, no trans fat and all-natural!
