A Taste of Maine for a Soldier Abroad

In January, we were contacted by the father of a soldier deployed in the Middle East.  His son’s birthday was fast approaching and he had a special request.  He and his wife found out there was no restriction on sending canned lobster meat overseas and they were hoping we could help them with a wildly unique gift idea.

We worked with him to package and ship a little over a case of our canned Bar Harbor Lobster Meat to his son.  They opted to send a large package so that he could share some with his buddies.  They even thought about sending the makings for lobster rolls separately, but decided if he didn’t just devour it out of the can he could find what he needed on base.  We recently received this follow-up message:

“He received the shipment.  All cans made it safely.  He did share most of it with the other guys in his unit. Though admitted to hoarding a few cans for himself - he ate the last one last week he said.  Thanks very much for your help with this.  It gave him a little taste of Maine.”  - Scott S., Maine

Thank you, Scott, for thinking of us and letting us be a part of such a special gift.  It was an honor to send a young man serving our country a little bit of comfort and happiness in the way sometimes only food from home can provide.
